We hope your children have a wonderful time in Reception! Here is some information that we hope you will find useful.
- Children should bring a water bottle containing only fresh water
- Snack is £2 per week
- Seesaw is used to share information, learning and messages between school and families
Reading:
For the first couple of weeks children will be given a story sack and then picture books to share at home. Once children have an understanding of letter corrospondence and are able to segment and blend words children will be given a phonics reading book and a reading for pleasure book of their choice. We will change the phonics books every Thursday and the reading for pleasure book every Monday.
We will listen to the children read three times a week during Reading Practise Sessions but expect them to read a few pages every night at home to an adult. Please record when your child has read to you in their reading record.
Please make sure your child brings in their reading record and reading books to school everyday. Do not put water bottles inside your child's book bags.
Phonics:
Phonics is taught daily in Reception. More information can be found on the Phonics and Early Reading page. The children's reading books directly link to the phonics sounds the children know.
